Check out our guidelines before they check you out.
These guidelines are here to (unsurprisingly) guide you. Please remember that we have the final say about the interpretation and application of these guidelines, and we can update them at any time. We did write them, after all.
When to leave a rating and/or review.
Try and keep it current, grandma! Remember (most of) these companies are trying to improve constantly, and things can change quickly. If you saw a product that wasn’t recyclable 10 months ago, is it still the same now? Do your research before you decide. If you’re unsure, comment and ask the brand on their profile.
You can leave a rating or review of a brand/product whether you have purchased the product or not.
Contrary to traditional platforms where you purchase a product and then review whether you liked it, we believe you don’t have to buy something to discuss how ethical you perceive it or the company. Of course, if you have bought it, you will have an even better insight. We’re not discounting that.
Don’t use it as a place to shit on brands because your order didn’t arrive in time.
Really Good Culture is an opportunity for companies to provide all the great information about what they’re doing for the planet and for you to tell them what you think they’re doing well or what they could improve on.
Valuable, up-to-date, constructive feedback is the best way to make positive changes.
Don’t leave fake, biased or shady ratings/reviews.
Don’t make shit up or write a review on behalf of someone else. ‘’My mum bought this and it wasn’t very nice’’ ain’t gonna cut it and isn't what Really Good Culture is for.
Please don't leave a review or rating if you are closely associated with, work for, or are in competition with a particular company. We'll know. Trust us.
Evidence for your claims.
If a review is flagged, we may ask you to provide evidence to back up your claims and contact you via email.
Don’t be a dick.
Pretty straightforward, but hey, we’ve got to write it in the guidelines anyway. We expect you to respect our platform and our community if you're using it. Anything damaging, hateful, discriminatory, defamatory or vulgar will be removed. Don’t lie, bully, blackmail, threaten, gamble or do anything illegal. This isn’t international waters or that film where crime is legal for 24 hours.
You can keep your privates to yourself.
Your comments and profile are public. Do not include your sensitive or personal information, and it’s never okay to include someone else’s. We’re talking full names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, and anything else that could be used to track, identify, contact or impersonate someone. We want the privacy and safety of everyone on Really Good Culture to be respected, protected and undetected.
Please. Check which company you’re rating/reviewing.
This is an easy mistake to make. Only millions of words are used globally, but somehow companies manage to have similar names. It’ll save us all a faff if you know you’re reviewing the right person. Check company websites available on profiles before you review.
Your user account.
You need a user account to post a verified review. Your username and picture must reflect who you are and can’t be harmful, hateful, discriminatory, defamatory or obscene because everyone can see your profile.
If you include something you shouldn’t, or you create more than one account, we can delete your account/s.
Your user account must also be connected to a valid, permanent email address if we need to contact you.
Deleting your comments.
We own the ratings and reviews. You can change your ratings but can’t edit your comment once posted. You can delete it and comment again. This is to encourage you to think before you speak. It’s a ''toothpaste doesn’t go back in the tube'' situation. Writing more than one review for a business is fine, but please don’t bombard a business with lots of reviews because that’s not helpful for anyone.
Flagged ratings/reviews.
Reviews and ratings can be flagged by brands, checked by our teams and taken down if they break our guidelines. If they do, we’ll come to your house and throw plums at your windows. Jokes! But we will remove your ratings/reviews.
Dealbreakers.
As you can tell, we’re normally pretty chilled. However, if your user account is flagged for breaking our rules, we may remove it. If you misuse our platform, we can remove the reviews and/or block or delete your account. If your account is deleted, the reviews will also be deleted. Our fraud detection system constantly looks for suspicious and fake reviews and will alert us when we need to remove them.
If you made it to the end of this page, it’s time to get off the internet and go outside.
